Why is it that we still follow the one drop rule? And why is it that other races don’t have the one drop rule?

Racism. Jim Crow Laws. Early voting laws. A ton of other segregation policies.

The One Drop Rule occurs in other races but instead of just dictating race, it can dictate the culture, nationality, religion or economic status a person may identify as. For example, royalty traditionally had to marry other royalty, otherwise the bloodline was “diminished.” But far as the One Drop Rule being largely associated with Black people and race, see again, racism.

We still follow it because vestiges of slavery are real.
